Admissions Process
Admission into the University
a. Students will be admitted to Riara University (RU) any time of the year, but they will generally report at the University at the beginning of each session, i.e. in January, in May or in September. Some programmes may admit students at different times or less frequently.
b. All applicants must complete the application forms and submit them to the Academic Registrar’s Office.

c. The application forms should be accompanied by copies of supporting documents as follows:
- Certificates (high school, certificate, diploma and or degree),
- One passport-size photograph,
- ID card or passport (In case your ID card is pending or you have not reached the age of 18, please provide a waiting card or the ID card of your parent/guardian) and
- Birth certificate.
- Pay a nonrefundable application fees of Kshs. 2,000
d. The Registrar’s Office shall assess the candidate’s suitability for admission and seek concurrence of the School / Department.
e. Where the University is in doubt, an applicant shall be directed to appropriate government agencies such as the Commission for University Education (CUE), and the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA), among others, for recognition and/or equation of their qualifications.
f. Upon verification of a student’s initial documents, the student will be admitted to the programme pending registration.
g. Original documents will be verified at a date communicated on the admission letter.
Orientation
An essential orientation program will be sent to all incoming students, where they will receive valuable information about our academic policies, support services, and campus resources. Attendance at this orientation is mandatory for all new students.
Registration of Classes
- Students who have been successfully admitted will proceed to register for classes.
- A registered student is assigned an Admission Number. This number shall form part of the permanent record of the student and shall be used in all correspondence with the student.
- The meaning of registration:
- Selecting the units to be taken with the guidance of School/Department
- Units are entered into the Student Management System (SMS)
- All or part of the fees depending on the arrangement are paid.
