DEAN SCHOOL OF LAW APPOINTMENT
The Riara University Council has appointed Dr. Victor Lando as the Dean of Riara Law School effective from 1 st September 2022. Dr. Lando takes over from Jackline Nyaga J.D., who has very ably led the School as Acting Dean in the recent past.
Dr. Lando is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. He holds a Doctor of Laws (LLD) degree as well as a Master of Laws (LLM) degree both from the University of Pretoria, and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nairobi.
Dr. Lando has researched and published in diverse areas including Comparative Constitutional law, Human & Peoples’ Rights, Good governance, and anti-corruption among others. In addition, he has interests in innovation, technology, and the protection of intellectual property.
Dr. Lando’s joined Riara University in 2014 and has risen through the ranks to the position of Senior Lecturer in 2021. Before joining academia, he worked for highly reputable organizations including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR) the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), as well as the International Rescue Committee (IRC). He is a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIarb) and the International Commission of Jurists-Kenya (ICJ-Kenya) where he serves in different capacities.
Dr. Lando also holds several professional certifications, including a Certificate in Mediation from Mediation Training International (MTI), Certificate in Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators -UK, Certificate in International Criminal Investigations from the Institute of International Criminal Investigations (IICI) in The Hague, as well as a Certificate in Strategic Leadership from the Kenya School of Government (KSG).
As a leader in the academic industry, he advocates for academic and professional excellence among students and faculty through hard work, innovation, integrity, consistency, and a positive team spirit.
