University of Massachusetts Amherst political scientist Michael Hannahan will deliver a public lecture titled “The Current State of U.S. Politics and Its Implications for Global Relations.” The session will provide a timely examination of the evolving political landscape in the United States and its influence on global diplomacy, governance and international relations.
The lecture comes at a critical moment as the United States continues to navigate significant political, social and institutional transformations that are shaping both domestic and global discourse. As one of the world’s leading powers, political developments within the U.S. have far-reaching implications for international partnerships, foreign policy and global cooperation.
During the discussion, Prof. Hannahan will explore key issues including political polarization, electoral trends, policy debates and the future direction of American leadership in global affairs. Particular attention will also be given to the implications of these developments for Africa and the wider international community.
Prof. Hannahan brings extensive experience in political communication, campaign strategy and international exchange programmes, having managed over 50 exchange initiatives across regions including Asia, Europe, South America and the Middle East. His research focuses on political campaign activity, including direct mail and phone banking, and he has served as a political consultant and senior advisor to former Massachusetts Governor Jane Swift.
The event is co-hosted by the Africa Center for the Study of the United States (ACSUS-Nairobi) and aims to foster critical dialogue on the intersection between domestic politics and international relations.
