Riara Center for Legal Innovation (RCLI) Hosts the African Regional Rounds of the International Environmental Moot Court Competition in Nairobi

As a background, the Riara Center for Legal Innovation (RCLI), a research hub housed by the Riara Law School, is proud to announce its hosting of the African Regional Rounds of the International Environmental Moot Court Competition in Nairobi, on the 19th of January 2024 With the pivotal theme of “Mountain Gorillas and Impact Assessment”, this competition provides an unparalleled platform for young legal minds to delve into complex environmental legal issues affecting one of Africa’s most iconic and endangered species.

The moot is sponsored by the African wildlife foundation. The African Wildlife Foundation is known not only for its commitment to the protection of African wildlife species, specifically the mountain gorillas of Rwanda and Uganda but also for its streamlining of youth engagement in the conservation of Africa’s Iconic species. The finalists shall have an opportunity to compete internationally at the finals to be held at Stetson University Law School in Florida, USA. The event aims to foster legal research, promote awareness of the plight of mountain gorillas, and stimulate discussions around the potential socio-economic and legal implications of environmental impact assessments.
