Upcoming Event: Youth Forum on Anti-Corruption – December 9, 2024 In recent years, young people have been at the forefront of driving change, particularly through their inclusive approach to shaping political, justice, and climate action globally.
One notable example from Kenya is the Gen Z protest earlier this year, where youth took to the streets to protest against the Finance Bill 2024, calling for enhanced integrity and accountability in government leadership.
This demonstration showcased the power of youth as catalysts for change in the nation. Building on this momentum, and in conjunction with the upcoming International Anti-Corruption Day (IACD) on December 9, 2024, themed “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity,” the UNODC’s Africa Anti-Corruption Hub, in collaboration with the National Youth Council of Kenya (NYC), is hosting a forum aimed at educating young people in Kenya about anti-corruption priorities and promoting accountability in government institutions.The forum will offer participants the chance to:
- Learn about key anti-corruption actions and priorities.
- Engage in discussions with experts and peers about the importance of ethics and leadership.
- Share experiences and propose innovative solutions to enhance transparency and accountability within government institutions.
As part of its ongoing partnership with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) of Kenya, Riara University students and alumni have been invited to attend this event. This opportunity comes after a successful sensitization seminar and public lecture on Ethics & Leadership hosted by EACC at the university.
This forum will serve as an excellent platform to expand networks, strengthen engagement in anti-corruption efforts, and contribute to the national conversation on integrity and transparency.
