Launch of the Riara Law Review

On Wednesday, 25 February 2026, Riara University officially launched the latest edition of the Riara Law Review, a flagship, student-led academic journal of the Riara Law School. The launch marked a significant milestone in the University’s commitment to nurturing legal scholarship, critical inquiry, and student leadership within the discipline of law.

The event also served as a formal handover ceremony between the outgoing and incoming Editorial Boards. This transition underscores the Law Review’s unique student-driven governance model, with the new editorial team assuming responsibility for issuing calls for papers, overseeing peer review, editing submissions, and steering the publication of future editions. The handover reaffirmed the culture of mentorship, continuity, and academic excellence that defines the journal.

The newly launched edition is a product of the Education Law and Policy course undertaken by law students in 2025. From conceptualization to publication, the ideas featured in the journal were initiated and developed by students themselves. Through critical reflection on their own educational journeys and the broader Kenyan education system, contributors interrogated existing legal and policy frameworks and proposed practical reforms aimed at strengthening educational outcomes.

The volume features insightful scholarly work spanning basic education, higher education, and the implications of emerging technologies on education policy and governance. Collectively, the articles highlight both challenges and opportunities within Kenya’s education sector while demonstrating the analytical depth and research capacity of Riara Law students.

The launch of the Riara Law Review reinforces Riara University’s commitment to experiential learning, academic rigor, and empowering students to contribute meaningfully to national and global legal discourse.
