Design Thinking Hackathon 2024: Empower Your Innovations!

Dear Innovators,

We are thrilled to invite you to the 2024 Design Thinking Hackathon, brought to you by Riara University (RU), The Technical University of Kenya (TUK), and Anza Village. This is your opportunity to transform your ideas into practical, impactful solutions through the power of Design Thinking!

Why Design Thinking?

In today’s fast-paced world, Design Thinking is a crucial tool for creating innovative solutions that not only address societal challenges but also meet the highest standards. This human-centered, iterative problem-solving approach consists of five key stages: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. It ensures that solutions are designed with the user at the core of the process.

Event Overview

This year’s hackathon aims to foster a mindset of creative problem-solving by encouraging participants to apply a user-centric approach in their innovations. Teams from diverse disciplines will come together to propose, collaborate, and develop solutions to real-world challenges. You will have the chance to interact with peers, industry specialists, legal experts on intellectual property, and professionals who will guide you in transforming your ideas into tangible prototypes – and eventually into real-world products and services.

What’s in it for you?

  • Collaboration: Work with talented, multidisciplinary teams to tackle pressing societal issues.
  • Expert Guidance: Learn from professionals, innovators, and legal experts in intellectual property rights.
  • Prototyping: Transform your ideas into viable prototypes that could be deployed as solutions in society.

Who Should Participate?

The hackathon is open to RU and TUK students with an innovative idea and a desire to leverage Design Thinking to create impactful solutions. We encourage participants from all disciplines – including business, education, ICT, engineering, security, communication, IRD, and law – to apply. A multidisciplinary approach will ensure that a wide range of skills and expertise are brought together to address complex challenges.
