On January 31, 2025, Riara University (RU) had the pleasure of hosting senior management from the MPesa Foundation Academy (MFA) for a benchmarking visit. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for both institutions to exchange insights on education models, quality assurance, institutional processes, and secondary students’ transition to university.
During the visit, Prof. Wanja Tenambergen gave a presentation on Riara University’s journey since its inception. She highlighted the RU’s initiatives that aim at enhancing Employability, Entrepreneurship, and Ethical Leadership among students and staff. Ms. Dorothy Oduor talked about quality assurance measures in RU. She emphasized the importance of experiential learning, which RU promotes through activities such as guest lectures, industry talks, and career workshops. The team had an opportunity to see the various learning facilities in the university.
Representing MPesa Foundation Academy, Mr. Tony Eysele shared insights into their approach to selecting and sponsoring students through university. He emphasized the need to integrate Corporate World Skills (21st Century Skills) into their curriculum, noting that Riara University already offers this as a mandatory course for all third-year students.
Riara University appreciates the visit from MPesa Foundation Academy, as this collaboration aims to bridge the gap between high school and university life. By working together, both institutions can better prepare students for a smooth transition into higher education.
