RU and MoSound Events Sign MOU
Remarking on the significance of the collaboration, Mr. Muley noted that the training programmes will not only expose students to professional film and event production environments, but also empower them with practical experience at a specialized level. Students taking these courses will benefit from supervision by industry-experienced instructors and gain first-hand knowledge into developing the much required technical and organizational skills that are particularly critical in these fields. The collaboration also aims at setting up a platform where students will nurture their creative talents, while learning best practices in generating and packaging high quality content to serve in today’s fast-evolving media ecology.
Speaking on behalf of RU, Prof. Gateru expressed the University’s commitment to skills- and value-based training to help address needs of industry and society. He indicated that training in the programmes envisioned in the MOU will be scaled up to regional and continental levels. He further stated that the collaboration would pave way for exciting developments in Kenya’s untapped and high-potential creative industry, through developing and broadening academic options for learners by exploiting synergies between academic and industry professionals to produce knowledgeable and highly skilled graduates for the sector.
The MOU signing was witnessed by Prof. Faith Nguru, RU’s Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs and Ms. Wanjiku Kasuki, Head of Studio – MoSound Events, among others. The partners committed to ensuring full implementation of the MOU.
