Sports & Recreational Facilities
Creative and fun ways of learning are part and parcel of an all-round education. Riara University offers an elaborate co-curricular programme that supports the physical, social and emotional growth of its students. Ultimately, Riara University intends to produce not just excellent academics and professionals, but also mould some of the finest sportsmen and sports women in Africa.
The Students Centre
To make life more fulfilling for our students, Riara University will create a single hub for many of the activities and services needed to make the student experience as smooth as possible. The Riara University Students Centre is designed to host a wide range of student services, including mentoring, lounges, theatres and other spaces for creative and performing arts as well as career advice and information–all under one roof.
Health Services
Riara University has made provision for medical insurance that caters for emergency on-site medical care for all its students. The coverage will include ambulance services and transfer to hospitals. The University is located near some of the largest and best-equipped hospitals in the region, including Kenyatta National Hospital, The Nairobi Hospital, Nairobi West Hospital, and St Mary’s Hospital-Langata, where competent medical attention is available round the clock.
Student Leadership
Good governance is one of the core pillars of Riara University that includes robust structures for student representation and leadership across all levels of the University. In this regard, Riara University creates opportunities for student leadership in various areas, for example, in the Riara University Students’ Association (RUSA), which is an independent students government elected in accordance with the Universities Act No. 42 of 2012. RUSA is the link between the student body and University administration, in clubs & societies, and in sports and games, among others. RUSA representatives also sit in the University Senate. Travelling to Riara University
Riara University is accessible by many means of transportation. For air travel, it may be most convenient to use Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, located less than half an hour’s drive from the University. The Wilson Airport is a short 15-minute drive away.
Driving to the University from the Nairobi City Centre will take you just under 20 minutes if you take Uhuru Highway and then turn onto Mbagathi Road. Alternatively, you may take Haile Selassie Avenue, cross the Uhuru Highway at the roundabout, and then join Ngong Road, drive up to Kenyatta National Hospital and then take a left into Mbagathi Way to the University.
Public service vehicles #16 and #34 also amply serve the area, all available at their termini at the city centre.
